Among the changes, the Fortuner 4x2 Petrol Automatic has witnessed the sharpest hike, with prices going up by ₹68,000.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a fresh round of price revisions for its flagship SUV, the Toyota Fortuner. Following the recent launch of a new mild-hybrid variant in the diesel lineup, select petrol and diesel trims of the Fortuner have now become more expensive. The revised ex-showroom prices now range between ₹36.05 lakh and ₹52.34 lakh, depending on the variant.

Among the changes, the Fortuner 4x2 Petrol Automatic has witnessed the sharpest hike, with prices going up by ₹68,000. This makes it the most significantly impacted variant in this round of revisions. Meanwhile, the 4x2 Diesel Manual, 4x2 Diesel Automatic, 4x4 Diesel Manual, GR-S performance variant, and both Legender variants (4x4 Diesel Manual and 4x4 Diesel Automatic) have each become costlier by ₹40,000.
Variants | Fortuner Petrol | Fortuner Diesel |
|---|---|---|
| 2.7L 4x2 AT | ₹36.05 lakh | NA |
| 2.8L 4x2 MT | NA | ₹36.73 lakh |
| 2.8L 4x2 AT | NA | ₹39.01 lakh |
| (2.8L) 4x4 MT | NA | ₹40.83 lakh |
| 4X4 AT Neo Drive 48V | NA | ₹44.72 lakh |
| GR-S (2.8L) 4x4 AT | NA | ₹52.34 lakh |
This price adjustment follows closely on the heels of the introduction of the new mild-hybrid diesel Fortuner, which was launched at ₹44.72 lakh (ex-showroom). The mild-hybrid variant comes with a 48V battery system paired with Toyota’s 2.8-litre diesel engine. While no major design changes were made, the hybrid system is aimed at offering better fuel efficiency and a smoother start-stop function — critical features in stop-go city traffic and for long-distance efficiency.

The Fortuner remains available with two powertrain options: a 2.7-litre petrol engine and a 2.8-litre diesel engine. Both are offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. However, the 4x4 drivetrain and Legender trims are reserved exclusively for the diesel-powered versions. The GR-S, Toyota’s sportier take on the Fortuner, also sits at the top of the diesel range with unique cosmetic updates and tuning.

For consumers, this price hike may come as a setback, especially for those eyeing the automatic variants. While the Fortuner continues to enjoy segment dominance due to its rugged build, reliable brand image, and off-road credentials, increasing prices could start nudging price-conscious buyers toward alternatives like the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, or even monocoque offerings like the Skoda Kodiaq.
