Toyota has introduced the all-new Toyota Rumion MPV in India, a vehicle based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga platform. The carmaker will soon reveal its pricing and booking details. This launch marks the fourth collaborative model between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. Toyota's MPV lineup is now the most extensive in the market, encompassing the entry-level Rumion, followed by the premium Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, and the Vellfire.
The Rumion's exterior features minor alterations to its plastic components compared to the Ertiga. Notable changes include a new bumper with redesigned fog lamp surrounds, a grille reminiscent of the Innova Crysta's, and fresh dual-tone alloy wheels. Inside, the dashboard is presented in a blacked-out style with wood-like inserts. Upholstery, akin to the Ertiga, is in a beige finish.
The vehicle's equipment list remains unchanged as well, and it maintains a 7-seater layout akin to the Ertiga. Interestingly, the Rumion is also exported to markets such as South Africa, where it retains the same specifications as the domestic version.
Powering the Toyota Rumion is the familiar 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine sourced from Maruti. This engine generates 103 bhp and 137 Nm of torque. It comes with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Similarly, like the Ertiga, the Rumion offers a factory-fitted CNG kit, delivering 88 bhp and 121.5 Nm in CNG mode. Toyota asserts that the petrol variant achieves a fuel efficiency of 20.51 kmpl, while the CNG variant attains 26.11 kg/km.
The Toyota Rumion will be available in V, G, and S trims in manual versions, while the automatic is offered on the base and top-spec trims. The CNG is also available only on the top-spec version. The prices will most likely be revealed later this month.
