It is all the more accessible now with a lower seat and an affordable price

The iconic Triumph Scrambler 1200 lineup has received an update for 2024, and India gets a taste of it with the launch of the new Scrambler 1200 X. Priced at ₹11.83 lakh (ex-showroom), this variant replaces the Scrambler 1200 XC. It is ₹ 1.10 lakh more expensive than the previous XC model.

In terms of design the bike has not changed much. Triumph has gone for a more dark appeal for the motorcycle now, reducing the metal finished bits from the older model. The Scrambler 1200 X now has a new digital instrument cluster design with a circular unit without the extended rectangles. An optional Bluetooth module unlocks turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts, adding convenience and connectivity.

The tried-and-tested 1,200cc parallel-twin engine continues to power the 1200 X, but with a few tweaks. A larger throttle body and revised exhaust headers enhance torque and power delivery, making the ride more responsive and enjoyable. Peak power of 89 bhp and peak torque of 110 Nm are now available slightly earlier in the rev range. Additionally, the electronics suite has been updated to include cornering traction control and five riding modes: Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road, and Rider Configurable.

Standing tall was the hallmark of the Scrambler 1200 series, and while it still is on the taller side, it is far more accessible at 820 mm seat height, which is 20 mm lower. An optional low seat brings it down further to 795 mm, making it suitable for riders of shorter build.

Triumph has further reduced the suspension travel at both ends of the Scrambler 1200 X. It now offers improved accessibility to riders of varied heights and riding skills. The previous model's Brembo M50 brakes, Showa fork, and piggyback Ohlins rear shocks have been replaced with axially-mounted Nissin brakes and non-adjustable Marzocchi suspension units. The brake discs now measure 310 mm in diameter, slightly smaller than the 320 mm disc on the earlier XC model too.

The 2024 Scrambler 1200 X now strikes a captivating balance between classic scrambler aesthetics, capable performance, and affordability. Its lower seat height and revised pricing open the door to a wider audience seeking a unique and stylish motorcycle for urban commutes and weekend getaways.
