The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will slot above the Triumph Scrambler 400 X as a more premium and hardcore option.
We had exclusively reported earlier that Triumph is working on a new variant of the Scrambler 400 X called the Scrambler 400 XC. But now reports have surfaced that a select few dealerships across India have started to accept bookings for the same and they are doing so by revealing the asking price to potential customers which is set at ₹2.94 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the upcoming Scrambler 400 XC almost ₹28,000 dearer than the Scrambler 400 X which retails at ₹2.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
For this extra money, the upcoming Scrambler 400 XC will be more off-road oriented. It will feature tubeless spoke wheels as standard, while the 19-/17-inch wheel configuration will remain the same as the Scrambler 400 X. To further reassert its premiumness, the bike will be offered in new colour shades, like the bright yellow option as we had noted in our exclusive report. Along with that, it will also get a small windscreen and a high-rise mudguard, both of which are body coloured. And lastly, the plastic engine bash plate will be replaced with a metal one to provide adequate protection in case of some off-road slip.
Beyond the above changes, the rest of the bike will remain the same as the Scrambler 400 X. So, it will continue to be powered by the same 398 cc liquid-cooled engine that churns out 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm. It will come paired with a six-speed gearbox. Along with that, off-road oriented features like switchable ABS and traction control will be carried over as well.
The exact launch timeline is yet to be officially revealed. However, with dealerships accepting bookings unofficially is a positive sign that the announcement will be made by Triumph India soon in the coming week.
