The NS 400Z gets more power, a quickshifter, better brakes and tyres.
The updated Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z has been launched in India at ₹1.92 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the NS 400Z isn’t really an old bike, it was first launched in India in May 2024 but Bajaj Auto has given its biggest Pulsar some very important upgrades.

First up, the NS 400Z now makes more power. 42.41 bhp instead of 39.45 bhp from the same 373 cc engine. The extra power will only be available in Sport mode, the other modes continuing with the restricted performance. With this, the 0-60 kmph time has dropped to 2.7 seconds from 3.2 seconds and from 0-100 kmph time has been dropped to 6.4 seconds from 7.5 seconds. Even top speed has seen an increase from 150 kmph to 157 kmph but it continues to deliver the same 28 kmpl as before.

The updates to the Pulsar NS 400Z aren’t just in the engine as Bajaj Auto has also given it a quickshifter. This allows riders to shift up or down without a clutch when the throttle is opened to its maximum position. The rear tyre is now a 150- section radial instead of a 140- section tyre, and both are of radial construction. Even the front brake pads have been upgraded to sintered ones, which Bajaj Auto claims reduces the stopping distance by 7 per cent.

The Pulsar NS 400Z competes with the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 310 and Triumph Speed 400. The Pulsar still undercuts all of its main rivals by a decent margin, the closest one being the Speed 400 at ₹2.46 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
