Instead of a ₹2 lakh scooter, here’s what you could look at instead
Vespa has always positioned itself as a premium two-wheeler brand in the country. But its latest, the Vespa Tech, launched at an astounding ₹1.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) is simply too pricey to even fathom considering. Instead, here are better alternatives which will make better sense:
The biggest Pulsar yet, the Pulsar NS400Z is one of the most value-for-money bikes that you can buy at just under ₹2 lakh. The KTM-sourced 373 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 39.4 bhp and 35 Nm, making it quite performance-oriented. Plus, its sharp body design looks quite dramatic with that quintessential aggressive appeal that everyone in this space desires. As for its features, you get all the modern bells and whistles, including turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alert, ride modes, and much more.
But if a naked sport bike isn’t your cuppa of choice, then you should consider the Hero Karizma XMR 210 instead which at just under ₹2 lakh is another value for money option. It’s powered by a 210 cc engine which is more powerful and engaging than the 125 cc Italian scooter. It has a nice premium appeal to it as well, and the build quality is one of the finest from Hero that we have seen till date.
If you want to settle for an agile and fun scooter, then you should consider the Ather 450 Apex. It is one of the most exciting electric scooters you can buy today and being a top trim model it comes equipped with more than just the basic features that one never hoped would come with a scooter – like Google Maps onboard, WhatsApp alert, etc. The sharp and sleek body is further enhanced in the Apex with transparent side body panels that expose the chassis – making it quite the eye candy.
Speaking of timeless design, how can we not mention the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Such is the appeal of the bike that it single-handedly uplifted Royal Enfield to make it one of the most popular OEMs today. Whether it's that tear drop shaped fuel tank design or that evergreen headlight cowl – the Classic 350 is a visual treat from every angle. Making it sweeter is the fact that it packs in a bigger, long-stroke 350 cc engine which is ideal for easy touring.
Lastly, ending on a slightly more premium note with something that is much more versatile and practical on a daily basis is RE’s latest, the Scram 440. Retaining that same stripped down OG Himalayan 411 design from before, the new Scram 440 was launched earlier this year with a bigger engine. Plus it has better brakes and some useful features which should make it fun in light off-road scenarios.
