Vietnamese carmaker VinFast Auto India has opened its biggest showroom in India in the midst of Chennai, marking the beginning of its Indian retail footprint. The 4,700 sq. ft. showroom in Teynampet is a major commitment to customer experience before the launch of VinFast's premium EV later this year. This is VinFast's second showroom to go live following Surat, but the first flagship experience centre, created to establish the brand in southern India and reflect the company's long-term goals for the market.

Why Chennai? A Strategic Launchpad

Chennai’s automotive legacy, access to a skilled workforce, and rapidly growing EV ecosystem made it an obvious choice for VinFast’s most important retail address yet. The Teynampet outlet will be managed by the established dealer group Maansarovar Motors.

"Chennai is an important anchor of our India strategy. This showroom is more than a display centre, it's a sign of commitment," said Pham Sanh Chau, CEO, VinFast Asia.

What's Inside India's Biggest VinFast Showroom

The Chennai showroom diverges from the spartan formats employed by most EV startups. Instead, it is aimed at creating an immersive brand experience through:

  • Lounge-style customer areas
  • Touchscreens that enable interaction with ADAS functions, technology, and range
  • A handover area for dedicated delivery with ceremony-style arrangements
  • Live access to the charging and servicing ecosystem through partners such as RoadGrid and myTVS

Its flagship designation further ensures it will be the regional training location for employees, product events, and vehicle servicing once deliveries start in early 2026.

How It Fits Into VinFast's Retail Strategy

Chennai is VinFast's second showroom, after its initial showroom in Surat, Gujarat, which was the operational entry of the brand into India. While the 3,000 sq. ft. of space in Piplod, Surat was the first to open, Chennai is the model upon which all major city showrooms will be based.

  • Flagship Experience Centres (such as Chennai) in Tier-1 cities
  • Tier-2 and Tier-3 Market Compact Showrooms, optimised for reach and cost

Every showroom is being complemented with the assistance of a local dealer partner and tied into VinFast's digital-first retail environment.

What's Next for VinFast in India?

With the Chennai experience centre now operational and Surat already established, VinFast's subsequent showrooms will be set up in:

  • Mumbai and Delhi NCR (next flagship stores)

In the meantime, construction on VinFast's EV factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, is slated to commence this month. Once operational, the plant will assist in localising production and reduce costs dramatically.
