This absurd yet scary incident unfolded in Hyderabad and the lorry driver has been arrested.
In what can only be described as a bizarre scenario, some fiction-level action sequence unfolded in real life a few days ago in Hyderabad. A lorry driver was arrested after he allegedly hit a car and a bike, and tried to run away from the situation. While, the rider escaped uninjured, the imagery of a man standing on the footboard and his bike being dragged under while sparks flew was quite the dramatic sight to withhold.
A truck driver collided with a motorcycle and, after an altercation, deliberately rammed the bike a second time, dragging it for two kilometers. The truck was finally intercepted by another vehicle, and following a complaint from the motorcyclist, the police arrested the driver. pic.twitter.com/8ZbVFnijzL

The lorry driver was allegedly trying to speed away after hitting a car. Locals were already chasing him and one managed to jump on the footboard of the truck during this time. And in this process, he hit the motorcycle. The bike got stuck in front of the left front wheel. The video shows sparks flying out brightly from the motorcycle being dragged for at least two kilometers, reports indicate. No cases of injury or any grave consequence were reported from this incident.
This classifies as a typical hit-and-run case scenario. And at the recent legislation of Section 106(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) stipulates a penalty of 10 years in jail and a fine for fleeing an accident spot and failing to report the incident to law-enforcer, like police or magistrate – the transporters and commercial drivers staged quite the protest expressing their grievances.
The lorry driver later surrendered to a local traffic police station. However, the man standing on the footboard did not lodge any complaint. The motorcycle's owner filed a case, which led to the arrest of the lorry driver and later jailed.
