Vivo imaging festival is being held from July 23 to 31.

Vivo has announced its latest imaging chipset the V3 which is the successor to the V2+. Vivo’s custom silicon has allowed the X series of smartphones to have amongst best in still photography. With the V3 chip, Vivo wants to take on the ascendancy of the iPhone in mobile video with it facilitating 4K portrait mode for video.

The announcement was made by Jia Jingdong, on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. He is the VP and GM of the brand and product strategy. It will be the first major unveil of the imaging festival it is hosting from July 23 to 31.

This chip will also provide advanced post processing editing features. It is expected to debut later this year with X100 smartphone which could also be paired with the next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chip which could be announced at the Qualcomm Summit in Hawaii.

Even the iPhone cannot shoot cinematic mode videos at 4K, but it could soon so so with the iPhone 15.
