Vivo has unveiled its latest flagship device, the Vivo X100 Pro, succeeding the X90 Pro. This launch marks the debut of the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor in a smartphone, paired with a formidable triple 50-megapixel camera array. The X100 Pro has been released globally and is set to hit the European and South Asian markets, including India, following its announcement in China. Competing directly with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the phone is already for sale in Hong Kong at HK$ 7998, approximately Rs 85,224, indicating a potentially higher price in India. Alongside the X100 Pro, there is a less expensive variant, the X100, which features less advanced camera specifications.
Both models boast a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, surpassing that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Pixel 8 Pro. The Dimensity 9300 chipset, known for its prime core architecture and 4nm process, is complemented by the next-generation V3 image processing chipset in the X100 Pro. This chipset is capable of running AI models with 7 billion parameters per second at 20 tokens per second. The X100 Pro will be available in a 512GB storage and 16GB RAM variant, whereas the X100 will offer 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The highlight of the X100 Pro is its camera system, developed in collaboration with Zeiss. The primary camera features a Sony IMX989 1-inch type sensor with optical precision calibration. The ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras both have a 50-megapixel resolution, with the latter boasting 4.3x optical magnification and APP designation, along with a floating lens mechanism – a significant hardware upgrade from the X90 Pro.
The X100, on the other hand, includes a smaller 1/1.49-inch 50-megapixel sensor, a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide camera identical to that of the X100 Pro. The X100 utilises the older V2 chip for image processing. Both devices are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
In terms of battery life, the X100 Pro is equipped with a substantial 5400mAh battery, supporting 100-watt wired charging (with the charger included) and 50-watt wireless charging. The X100, while offering a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery, boasts an impressive 120-watt wired charging capability but lacks wireless charging. The phone is based on Android 14 with Vivo's Funtouch OS running on top.
