The electric estate will make its global debut in 2024.
Volkswagen has released the first set of images of its upcoming electric estate, based on the ID.7 EV. Dubbed ID.7 Tourer, the electric estate will be launched in the European market in 2024. While it is still under camouflage, Volkswagen has given a few key details about the upcoming ID.7 Tourer.
The ID.7 Tourer is said to be highly aerodynamic and Volkswagen claims its drag coefficient is 0.24 cD. Volkswagen also mentioned that the ID.7 Tourer has a 545-litre boot space loaded up to the height of the rear seat’s backrest. The boot space can be further expanded to 1,714 litres with the second row of seats folded down.

Volkswagen mentions this is possible since the ID.7 Tourer is based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, and this modular platform allows for a longer wheelbase which helps in adding more interior space. The brand also mentioned that like the ID.7, the ID.7 Tourer will also be produced at Volkswagen’s plant in Emden, Germany.
Even though the EV is under camouflage, its design can still be seen largely. Volkswagen has only shared images of the rear three quarters and profile of the ID.7 Tourer. However, looking at the images, it is pretty evident that the sedan and estate versions of the EVs will look largely similar from the front.
It is after the front doors that both ID.7 models start differentiating themselves. While the ID.7 has a coupe-like roofline, the ID.7 Tourer has a straight roof to the end where it merges with the spoiler. Expect the estate version to have a similar tail-light design – running across the width of the car – as the electric sedan and it is likely to have a similar design for the rear bumper as well. It also sports the same dual-tone alloy wheels as the ID.7 electric sedan. Volkswagen says the final design of the ID.7 Tourer EV will be revealed in the coming months.
