The Volvo C40 Recharge is the newest electric car to land on our shores, however, it has a few weeks till the prices are announced and deliveries start. Based on the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Volvo C40 Recharge will be positioned above its electric sibling and also command a bit of premium pricing, putting it in the same league as the Kia EV6 electric crossover. Both cars offer a stylish design, a long-range, and plenty of features. But which one is the better bet?
Specs
The Volvo C40 Recharge is powered by a dual-motor drivetrain that produces 402 bhp and 660 Nm of torque. It has a single-speed automatic transmission and comes with an all-wheel-drive setup. The C40 Recharge has a 78 kWh battery pack that provides a claimed range of up to 530 km on a single charge.
The Kia EV6 is also powered by a dual-motor drivetrain but produces 307 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It has a single-speed automatic transmission and a rear-wheel-drive setup. The EV6 has a 77.4 kWh battery pack that provides a claimed range of up to 708 km on a single charge.
Dimensions
The Volvo C40 Recharge is 4440 mm long, 2034 mm wide, and 1595 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2702 mm and a curb weight of 2150 kg.
The Kia EV6 is 4635 mm long, 1880 mm wide, and 1547 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2900 mm and a curb weight of 2041 kg.
Features
Both the Volvo C40 Recharge and Kia EV6 come standard with a long list of features, including, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, an electric tailgate, and a suite of driver assistance features.
Price
The prices of the Volvo C40 Recharge E80 will be announced in August this year with deliveries to start September onwards, however, we expect the single variant electric crossover to carry a tag of Rs. 60 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Kia EV6 on the other hand, is available in two variants- GT Line (Rs. 60.95 lakh) and GT Line AWD (Rs. 65.95 lakh).
