Volvo has taken its next big step in the path towards becoming a fully-electric car manufacturer. The Swedish carmaker has taken the lid off the highly-anticipated EX60 which is expected to eventually replace the XC60 from the company’s lineup. Built on Volvo’s SPA3 electric vehicle architecture, the EX60 will be available in two derivatives: standard and Cross Country.

Volvo EX60: Exterior & Interiors

In terms of design, the Volvo EX60 carries forward the company’s Scandinavian design philosophy into the all-electric era. It blends a sophisticated, confident, and aerodynamically efficient exterior with the use of natural, high-quality materials inside, creating a calm, refined, and highly versatile cabin with intelligent storage solutions.

A low-set front, a gently sloping roofline, and tapered body sides enhance overall aerodynamic performance. As a result, the EX60 achieves a highly competitive drag coefficient of 0.26, contributing to its class-leading driving range. Inside, the EX60 stands out for its versatility and practicality. The long wheelbase and flat floor significantly improve rear-seat legroom, while also enabling a spacious luggage compartment and multiple thoughtfully designed storage areas for personal belongings.

Volvo EX60: Features

Volvo claims the EX60 to be its most intelligent offering till then since it packs all modern technologies that one can ask for. The electric SUV is powered by the latest iteration of HuginCore, Volvo Cars’ core computing system that enables the vehicle to perceive, process, and respond intelligently. It reflects the company’s technology strategy, combining in-house development with close collaboration alongside leading technology partners, including Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm Technologies Inc.

The EX60 is also the first Volvo model to debut Gemini, Google’s new AI assistant. Deeply integrated into the vehicle, Gemini enables natural and personalised interactions without the need to recall specific voice commands. Its introduction underscores the long-standing partnership between Volvo Cars and Google, as well as Volvo Cars’ role as a lead development partner and reference hardware platform for Android Automotive OS.

The advanced infotainment system promises instant map loading, enhanced voice recognition, and intuitive access to key vehicle functions, resulting in a consistently smooth and refined user experience. For audio enthusiasts, the EX60 offers a premium 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. For the first time in a Volvo model, this system incorporates headrest-mounted speakers in all four primary seats. In addition, the EX60 will be the first Volvo to feature Apple Music pre-installed with Dolby Atmos, delivering a rich and immersive spatial audio experience.
