The new variant brings the entry price of the XC40 Recharge down by nearly ₹3 lakh.
Volvo Car India has launched a new single-motor variant of the XC40 Recharge priced at ₹54.95 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, India). This brings the entry price of the XC40 Recharge down by nearly ₹3 lakh as the twin-motor variant is priced at ₹57.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The single-motor XC40 Recharge Plus variant now comes with a smaller 69 kWh battery, compared to the XC40 Recharge Ultimate. The Plus variant has a range of 475 km (WLTP), which is 30 km less than the Ultimate variant. Furthermore, the single-motor Plus variant produces 238 bhp and 420 Nm, while the dual-motor Ultimate variant produces 408 bhp and 660 Nm.
Compared to the top-spec Ultimate variant, the Plus misses out on a 360-degree camera, Pixel LED headlights, fog lamps, Park Assist for the side and a Harmon Kardon-tuned audio system. Instead, it only gets a reverse camera, LED headlights, Park Assist for front and rear and a standard audio system.
Other features on the XC40 Recharge Plus include seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, ADAS, leather-free interiors, a wireless charger, a vertically-oriented 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and more.
Volvo is also offering an 8-year warranty on the battery, a 3-year comprehensive warranty on the SUV, and 3-year service as well as roadside assistance packages. The XC40 Recharge will also come with an 11 kW wall box charger.
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, The vehicle has been strategically priced so as to increase our customer base as well as to showcase our continued commitment to grow the Indian EV market.”
The XC40 Recharge will be assembled at the brand’s facility in Hosakote, Bengaluru. In 2023, Volvo sold 2,343 units in India, of which 510 were Volvo XC40 Recharge and 180 units were the C40 Recharge. Volvo has also removed the Recharge suffix from the XC40 and C40 globally, with them now being called the EX40 and EC40. Expect Volvo India to follow suit later this year.
