Some key countries Grok is now available include India, Pakistan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and many others across the globe.
Notably, X (formerly known as Twitter) rolled out early access to Grok in the United States to its Premium+ subscribers last month. The expanded international availability will follow a similar paid model.
Grok is touted as a more advanced AI assistant compared to ChatGPT as it is built on xAI's proprietary 33 billion parameter model known as Grok-0. The company claims it can answer questions more deeply and provide witty responses due to access to real-time Twitter data.
Soon after launch, Grok sparked controversies by playfully roasting Elon Musk when asked. However, Musk later said tweaks are being made to orient the chatbot towards political neutrality.
To use Grok in India, users must subscribe to X Premium+ tier at a monthly cost of Rs. 1,300 or an annual package of Rs. 13,600. The chatbot will then be accessible via the sidebar or bottom navigation bar within the Twitter app.
The rollout makes Grok one of the most widely available AI chatbots globally and expands its user base multifold.
