Xiaomi has revealed full specifications of its Vision Gran Turismo concept, highlighting advanced aerodynamics, magnetic stationary wheel covers and next-generation digital cockpit technology.
Xiaomi has officially disclosed the complete technical specifications of its Vision Gran Turismo electric hypercar concept at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, presenting a design that combines advanced aerodynamics with unconventional engineering solutions.
The Vision GT concept, previously leaked ahead of the event, is now on display with detailed performance data. Xiaomi confirmed the car achieves a drag coefficient of 0.29, alongside a downforce figure of -1.2 and an aerodynamic efficiency rating of 4.1. According to the company, the development focus was on balancing low drag for high-speed efficiency with sufficient downforce for stability, rather than prioritising one over the other.
The exterior follows a minimalist philosophy, with every design element serving both aerodynamic and aesthetic purposes. The cockpit adopts a teardrop silhouette, while airflow is channelled through sculpted body passages before exiting via integrated rear outlets embedded within a halo-style taillight structure.
One of the most distinctive features is the “Accretion Rims” system. These vortex-inspired wheel covers sit flush with the tyre surface and remain stationary while the wheels rotate beneath them. A concealed magnetic mechanism enables this effect, reducing aerodynamic drag typically caused by spinning wheels. Turbine fins positioned behind semi-transparent covers also assist in brake cooling.
At the rear, Xiaomi has introduced an “Active Wake Control System,” which uses micro-perforations and real-time driving data to manage airflow and reduce turbulence. This approach replaces a traditional active spoiler while maintaining a clean exterior profile.
Inside, the cabin departs from conventional hypercar layouts. The “Sofa Racer” interior integrates the dashboard, seats and door panels into a continuous cocoon-like structure. Materials include 3D-knitted natural fabric inspired by performance sportswear. The cockpit incorporates Xiaomi Pulse, a 360-degree intelligent assistant, alongside HyperVision adaptive displays that adjust interface layouts depending on driving mode.
Physical controls include a steer-by-wire wheel and an aircraft-style throttle shifter, combining tactile engagement with digital integration.
Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo 7 series, endorsed the concept and praised its aerodynamic balance. Xiaomi becomes the 36th brand to join the Vision Gran Turismo programme, marking the first participation by a technology company.
Although the Vision GT will remain a virtual concept within the Gran Turismo platform, Xiaomi’s broader strategy is clear. The company has confirmed overseas expansion plans beginning in 2027, including a European push supported by an R&D centre in Munich and retail growth targets in the UK and beyond.
