Since launching the SU7 sedan in March 2024, Xiaomi has become a major player in China's domestic EV market.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced on a livestream in China that the company sold “over 410,000” vehicles in calendar year 2025. This comes just days after the company confirmed it had crossed the 400,000 unit mark. Xiaomi launched its first model, the SU7 sedan, in China in early 2024 and has since launched the YU7 SUV, plus the high-performance SU7 Ultra. It has not yet officially entered any foreign market, so all sales are domestic.
The Chinese company, previously known mainly for its smartphones, was able to cross this milestone after it sold 50,000 units in December alone. Exact numbers for December have not yet been released, but the combined figure is in line with the 361,625 confirmed units sold between January and November.
Previously, Xiaomi said in November that it had shipped its 150,000th YU7 within six months of its launch, and it's 100,00th car in less than a year of beginning sales. On December 2, it announced its 500,000th cumulative car delivery. Xiaomi’s target for 2025 was originally 300,000 units, which it raised to 350,000 in March based on demand and manufacturing output. That higher figure was still exceeded a month early. The company’s EV division posted its first ever profit in Q3 2025.
In his latest update, Lei Jun set a target of 550,000 for 2026, but called this a conservative figure. The show of confidence comes amid reports of a launch in Europe by 2027.
Along with official announcements, leaks and test mules suggest that Xiaomi is set to have a busy year ahead. The larger YU9 SUV with six and/or seven seats is set to launch, along with a high-performance YU7 Ultra, possibly named YU7 GT. A longer wheelbase SU7 L sedan is also reportedly planned, aimed at luxury executive buyers. Xiaomi might also refresh the SU7 with a minor facelift and technology updates.
Interestingly, the YU9 could arrive as a range extender hybrid, making it Xiaomi’s first non-EV car. While it aims to widen Xiaomi’s appeal with more pragmatic family-oriented buyers, the other two are halo products that will serve to highlight the company’s technology, prestige, and performance credentials as it gears up for international expansion.
The company currently has 477 dealerships and 264 service centers in 138 cities and towns across China.
