Xiaomi’s first vehicle has a range of up to 830 km and has autonomous driving tech.
Months after revealing its first-ever vehicle, tech giant Xiaomi has launched the SU7 electric vehicle in China. Prices for the SU7 start at RMB 215,900 (roughly ₹24.90 lakh) and go up to RMB 299,900 (roughly ₹34.59 lakh).
The SU7 is available in three variants – SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max. All three models get different battery-powertrain options, from a 73.6 kWh battery with rear-wheel-drive to a 101 kWh battery pack with all-wheel-drive.
The standard SU7 has a range of up to 700 km (CLTC) from the 73.6 kWh battery pack. Its electric motors produce 295 bhp and 400 Nm. Xiaomi claims this variant has a claimed top speed of 210 kmph and can do the 0-100 kmph run in 5.28 seconds.
The SU7 Pro has the longest range of the lot – 830 km (CLTC) from its 94.3 kWh battery pack. It also gets rear-wheel-drive and its electric motors produce the same 295 bhp and 400 Nm as the standard SU7. While it has the same top speed, the 0-100 kmph time has increased to 5.7 seconds.
The top-spec SU7 Max has the largest battery pack, a 101 kWh unit, and has a range of 800 km (CLTC). It has all-wheel-drive so its dual-electric motors produce 664 bhp and 838 Nm. Xiaomi claims this variant has a top speed of 265 kmph and can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 2.78 seconds.
The SU7 measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width and 1,455 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned the weight of the SU7 and SU7 Pro, but the SU7 Max weighs 2,205 kg. The Chinese marque also says the SU7 has the lowest drag coefficient for any production vehicle, measuring 0.195 Cd. For reference, the Lucid Air and Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan have drag coefficients of 0.197 and 0.20 Cd, respectively.
Xiaomi has also added an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite which Xiaomi claims helps the SU7 have autonomous driving capabilities like Tesla. The ADAS Suite, called Pilot, has two versions. The Pilot Pro version is a camera-based system, while the Pilot Max also gets Lidar. Safety features include multiple airbags, reinforced chassis for better protection and more.
