Xiaomi Pad 7 is rumoured to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
Xiaomi is reportedly planning to expand its tablet lineup with the introduction of the Pad 7 series which is expected to include two models: the Xiaomi Pad 7 and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. The Pad 7 is rumoured to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from last year, while the more advanced Pad 7 Pro is speculated to feature the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This would be a notable upgrade from the previous models, which used the Snapdragon 870 which first emerged in 2021.
The Pad 7 may also support 100W fast charging, enhancing its usability for users constantly on the go. On the other hand, the Pad 7 Pro is anticipated to have an OLED panel, which would be a first for Xiaomi tablets as the company has traditionally used LCD screens.
Xiaomi is also considering expanding the availability of its Pro tablet models beyond China, which has been their primary market so far. This strategic move could increase Xiaomi's global footprint in the tablet market.
The tablet market in 2023 saw significant activity, with brands like OnePlus, Samsung, and Google introducing high-end models. Thanks to the advent of foldable phones, large screens for Android devices are becoming more prevalent which has also encouraged Google to modify its operating system for the tablet form factor. This has further fuelled growth in the segment.
Apple, the dominant player in this market, did not release any new iPad models in 2023 but is expected to overhaul its entire iPad lineup in 2024. This development suggests that the tablet market, especially the high-end segment, is becoming increasingly competitive, with Xiaomi positioning itself as a key contender.
