Yamaha is offering this new warranty program for free, and it can also be transferred to a new owner.
It’s been 40 years since Yamaha commenced business in India, and to celebrate this long duration, the Japanese brand has rolled out a special “10-year Total Warranty” program. It will be applicable on all the brand’s made-in-India bikes and scooters. As part of this newly announced program, Yamaha is offering 2 years of standard warranty and an additional 8 years of extended warranty. The program will cover both engine and electrical components, even the fuel-injection system available with the FZ-S FI, FZ-S Fi Hybrid, and the FZ-S FI V4.
Yamaha claims that this new warranty program gives its two-wheelers “industry-leading warranty coverage of up to 1,00,000 km” for its scooter range, while the brand’s motorcycles will cover up to 1,25,000 km. But that is not the case. In 2024, Honda introduced its extended warranty program for up to 10 years for all its commuter bikes and scooters, except for the CB300F and CB300R. This program further gives customers the benefit of a 3-year policy from the 7th year, a 2-year policy in the 8th year, and a subsequent 1-year policy in the 9th year, which cumulatively covers the bike for 1,30,000 km. Even Suzuki offers a “2+5” and “2+8” years of warranty program, which was introduced last year. So, even if Yamaha claims that its warranty program is “industry-leading”, Honda and Suzuki have been in the game way before.
As for Yamaha’s newly announced “10-Year Total Warranty” program, it will be offered for free, but the program will be available for a limited period, though. Moreover, the warranty coverages will also be transferable to subsequent owners, which will further help increase the resale value of the Yammies as well.
