Prices for the Yamaha Aerox-E (left) and EC-06 (right) have not yet been confirmed.
India Yamaha Motor (IYM) is jumping into the Indian electric scooter market with two new models, the performance-oriented Aerox-E and the more mainstream EC-06. The company says both models will further its commitment to sustainability as well as address evolving customer preferences, as it enters the next phase of its operations in India. Prices are yet to be announced, and deliveries are likely to begin in Q1 2026 for both models.

The Aerox-E is aimed at buyers who want excitement and responsive handling plus a fun riding experience, and the company calls it a “no-compromise” offering in the electric scooter space. It will be sold alongside the existing Aerox 155, for those who want an electric option.
This new scooter has a 9.4kW (peak) electric motor, capable of 48 Nm or torque. Yamaha has gone with dual 3kWh detachable batteries with ergonomic grips so they can easily be removed for charging at home. Claimed range is 106 km per full charge. The company touts instant acceleration and strong pickup. Riders will get three modes – Eco, Standard, and Power – plus a Boost function and ability to reverse. The bike has front and rear disc brakes, plus ABS in line with India’s latest safety regulations.
In terms of design, the Aerox-E carries forward Yamaha’s Maxi Sports Scooter aesthetic with a distinctive X motif on the front. It also has twin LED headlights and a 3D-effect taillight. The colour LCD screen shows turn-by-turn navigation instructions, and smartphone connectivity is also supported. Riders will see maintenance reminders and can find their last parking location through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. There’s also a smart key system for convenience.

The more modestly priced Yamaha EC-06 is aimed at young urban commuters who value style as well as functionality. The company describes its design as modern yet practical, with a high-centred presence for manoeuvrability in traffic.
This bike was designed and developed in India, and is based on the same platform as the River Indie – Yamaha has invested significantly in the Bengaluru-based electric scooter startup. While based on the same chassis as the Rivier Indie, there are some differences in terms of body design and handling characteristics.
The EC-06 has a 4.5kW motor with a 4kWh fixed battery. Its claimed range is 160km per charge. A full charge at home using a standard power outlet is said to take 9 hours, which should suit everyday commuters. There are three riding modes plus reverse mode for easily navigating tight spaces. Riders will get front and rear disc brakes.
There’s a colour LCD plus built-in telematics that can leverage a SIM card for direct, real-time cellular data connectivity. The under-seat storage capacity is 24.5 litres.
