Japanese manufacturer Yamaha has struck a technical partnership deal with UK-based Lola Cars to develop and supply high-performance electric powertrains for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (Formula E).

As part of the agreement terms, Yamaha will develop and supply the power units to Lola who will, in turn, package the product and supply the final product to the Formula E team, as an official manufacturer.

This newly formed partnership is part of Yamaha's several sustainable development programs that the company has undertaken. Earlier in December 2023, Yamaha also announced ENYRING, it's new company that will offer swappable batteries on a subscription basis. To be based out of Germany, ENRYING is scheduled to start operational in the first half of 2025. Aligning with its global goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Yamaha's latest Formule E venture partnership will further allow the company to promote, research, and develop technologies for sustainability.
