Kia introduced the Sonet SUV to Indian consumers back in 2020 to much acclaim. The Kia Sonet is a chic and adaptable five-seater compact SUV that provides a decent blend of features, driving dynamics, and design aspects. It leveraged the existing preference for dynamic SUVs and solidified its position within months. The Kia Sonet comes with an eye-catching exterior design language and an equally appealing cabin space with cutting-edge features and comfort amenities. The Kia Sonet offers three different engine options. It gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirating petrol engine paired with a 5-speed MT, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol version paired to either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre diesel version mated to either a 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed AMT. The Smartstream G1.2 engine offers a power of 81.8bhp@6000rpm and torque of 81.8bhp@6000rpm. The Smartstream G1.0 TGDi engine offers 118bhp@6000rpm power and 172Nm@1500-4000rpm torque, while the 1.5L CRDi VGT diesel engine offers 114bhp@4000rpm power and 250Nm@1500-2750rpm torque. The Sonet's demand can also be attributed to its fuel efficiency. The ARAI claimed mileage for the naturally aspirated petrol engine is 18.83 km/l. The mileage range for the turbo petrol engine is 18.7 km/l to 19.2 km/l, while that of the diesel engine is 18.6 km/l to 22.3 km/l.This promising combination of design, power, and performance has made the Sonet a much-preferred car. As more people choose the Sonet, there are concerns regarding the waiting periods.
