The Hyundai Verna is one of India’s most popular mid-size sedans. It is known for its sharp styling, tech-loaded cabin, strong safety package, and refined petrol engine options. Competing against the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus, the Verna offers a premium balance of comfort, performance, and features.
With the upcoming GST 2.0 reforms, effective from September 22, 2025, the Verna is set to become more affordable. The revised taxation system removes cess altogether and replaces it with a uniform flat GST rate, making pricing more transparent.
At present, the Hyundai Verna, being over 4 metres in length and powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, falls under the category taxed at 28% GST plus 17% cess, totalling 45%. Under the new GST structure, the Verna will now attract a flat 40% GST, lowering its ex-showroom prices across all variants.
