Kia introduced the Sonet SUV to Indian consumers back in 2020 to much acclaim. The Smartstream G1.0 TGDi engine offers 118bhp@6000rpm power and 172Nm@1500-4000rpm torque, while the 1.5L CRDi VGT diesel engine offers 114bhp@4000rpm power and 250Nm@1500-2750rpm torque.

The Sonet's demand can also be attributed to its fuel efficiency. The ARAI claimed mileage for the naturally aspirated petrol engine is 18.83 km/l. The mileage range for the turbo petrol engine is 18.7 km/l to 19.2 km/l, while that of the diesel engine is 18.6 km/l to 22.3 km/l.

Since its inception on September 18, 2020, to the end of February 2024, the Sonet has recorded 304,311 units of wholesale sales in the Indian market. In addition to exporting 86,780 units, Kia Sonet has sold 391,091 units overall, falling 8,909 units short of the 400,000-unit milestone at this point.
