The Tata Sierra has achieved the five-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupants, the highest rating the authority can award. Bharat NCAP conducted the test in February 2026 and released the updated report in June 2026. The tested cars were manual-gearbox models of the Accomplished Plus and Adventure Plus, weighing 1,825 kg.
The company says the rating includes the complete variant range, from petrol to diesel and manual to automatic, for cars produced from March 2026. So if you are reading these safety scores, you can trust them whether you choose the lowest Sierra or the highest.
Tata Sierra Adult Occupant Protection Score
The Sierra achieved a score of 31.14 out of 32 for the protection of adult occupants, among the highest adult occupant scores published by Bharat NCAP. It scored 15.14 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, which simulates cars crashing into a barrier at an angle against a barrier which is immovable.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, the car scored 16 out of 16. The side pole impact scenario, which represents a crash with a pole at the side of the car and a car of very small width, was judged to be adequate. Bharat NCAP reduces the score also when a door opens during impacts, and in the Sierra’s case, the doors remain closed. In short, all these facts indicate that the passenger cell remained undamaged in front- and side-impact collisions.
Tata Sierra Child Occupant Safety Score
For child safety, the Sierra's score was a very impressive 44.73 out of 49, which was once again in the five-star rating range. It received 23.73 out of 24 in a test simulating a real accident that examines how effectively child seats limit head and body movement during a crash.
A 12 out of 12 score for child restraint system installation means that child seats commonly available on the market fit perfectly and safely in the car via the car's ISOFIX mounts. The other category of assessing the vehicle (which gives points for the car's integrated child safety features) awarded 9 out of 13 points.
A parent placing a baby carrier behind the driver's seat would get a car that holds it perfectly.
What Safety Features Does the Tata Sierra Come With?
One standard safety feature common to every Sierra model is the availability of six airbags covering the front, side, and curtain positions in both rows of seats.
The car also comes with front seat belts that tighten and then gradually release pressure in the event of a collision, thereby minimising the risk of injury to the occupants. In addition, the outer rear seats have ISOFIX anchor points to accommodate child seats. As this equipment is a factory-fit item, the basic variant gets the same basic crash protection as the top-of-the-line models.
Does the Tata Sierra Have ADAS?
Higher versions of the Sierra have Level 2 ADAS safety tech and driver aids that not only brake but also steer to avoid accidents. The driver-assist set includes systems like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and forward collision warning.
Additionally, this top trim includes other driver-assistance features such as a 360-degree camera, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Prices range from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom), so these smart technologies are available only on the top trims. Check which trim level includes these driver safety technologies in the list of models before making a purchase.
