Tata Tiago EV vs Hyundai Creta: Design and Styling

From the sides, the Tiago EV looks nearly identical to its petrol sibling except for the blue EV badging. You get 14-inch Hyperstyle wheels, body-coloured ORVMs, and blacked-out B-pillars. At the rear, the Tiago EV is easily identifiable by its ‘Tiago—Ev’ lettering on the tailgate. The overall design is contemporary and stylish.

Hyundai Creta Design

The Hyundai Creta has an imposing exterior design with its aggressive front fascia. It gets a bold cascading grille flanked by split headlamps with integrated DRLs. The bumper houses large air dams and skid plates.

In profile, the Creta looks robust with its flared wheel arches, roof rails, dual-tone alloy wheels and thick plastic cladding. The rear also looks bold and sporty, with connected LED tail lamps and a skid plate on the bumper. Overall, the Creta has a very premium SUV design.

Tata Tiago EV vs Hyundai Creta: Charging Infrastructure and Running Costs

Tata Tiago EV Charging

The Tata Tiago EV supports both AC and DC fast charging. The standard charger can replenish the battery fully in 8 hours and 35 minutes. Using a 15A power outlet takes 12 hours and 30 minutes. The DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10-80% in 60 minutes.

Tata provides a portable charging cable with the car. You can install an AC wall box charger at your home for convenience. The Tiago EV also gets an 8-year/1.6 lakh km battery and motor warranty for added peace of mind. This offers lower running costs in the long term.

Hyundai Creta Running Costs

The running costs of the Hyundai Creta will depend on the fuel type and variant. The 1.5 petrol variants deliver a mileage of 16-17 kmpl, the 1.5 diesel offers 21-22 kmpl, while the 1.4 turbo petrol returns 16-18 kmpl. Higher fuel efficiency comes at the expense of lower performance.

In the long run, you must also factor in rising petrol and diesel costs. Maintenance costs of the Creta are affordable if you stick to OEM parts and service centres. However, EVs have lower running costs and electricity charges than fuel prices.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Creta is the best option for most criteria compared to the Tata Tiago EV. It has a more stylish design, spacious interior, powerful engine options, an extended features list and proven safety credentials. But the Tiago EV still makes sense for buyers who want a practical and eco-friendly urban runabout on a budget. It offers enough space for a family of four and a sufficient range for daily commuting.
