Entering the old or new MG Hector is like entering two worlds. Pre-facelift models have physical buttons and knobs for most functions and a driver-centric layout. Air vents and vertical AC controls surround its infotainment system on the dashboard, making it familiar and practical.

But the 2023 Hector facelift makes the cabin ultramodern. A sleek, touch-sensitive dashboard with a massive 14-inch vertical touchscreen replaces the buttons. The floating centre console adds a futuristic style. The interior is bright and luxurious, with ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof, expressing tech and modern style.

Both Hectors have good features, but the new one has more. Level 2 ADAS with lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring is available in automatic petrol variants, unlike the older model. A 360-degree parking camera and powered driver's seat are missing from the base trims of the new Hector, but the pre-facelift has them.

Powertrain Options

The 2023 facelift replaces the mild-hybrid system with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with manual or CVT. Though it reduces fuel efficiency, this change smooths the CVT. With a manual gearbox, the 2.0L diesel engine remains reliable.

However, the older model has a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology for better fuel economy. This version had a 7-speed DCT gearbox, which the new model lacks.
