The Porsche 911 is built on the spirit of determination and grit from 1948. With the 911, the carmaker aimed to fascinate the world with a sports car that is a class apart, and the 911 stays true to this vision. Launched in India in 2019, the car comes in both coupe and cabriolet body styles. 

The exterior is precise and neat, with signature contours and moulding along the body. The front wings are prominent, and the headlamps resemble those of the first-gen 911. The rear end is the main attraction, with its unique taillight and tailgate grille setup. 

The interiors are premium and driver-centric. The Sports seats offer support and comfort with heated and ventilation functions. There is a driver's display with an analogue tachometer, two-zone automatic climate control, a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 13-speaker Burmester sound system. 

Several petrol engines are available. Transmission options include both manual and automatic gearboxes. The WLTP mileage offered is 10.64 km/l.

Exterior Design 

The exterior design language of the Porsche 911 is sleek and contemporary. The wings are clearly defined and accentuate the overall geometry of the car. The bonnet has a characteristic dynamic recess profile and a straight-sloping design towards the front apron. The headlamps' positioning pays tribute to the first-generation 911 models. In 2024, they come with LED technology. The R19 wheels at the sides complement the 911's silhouette.

The hood for the cabriolet models opens or closes in around 12 seconds and can be operated by remote control. 

Interior and Features

The Porsche 911 interiors blend the old and the new and have a premium feel, thanks to the trim strips with decorative inlays in Dark Silver Diamar and leather seat upholstery. The Sports seats have electric seat height, backrest adjustment, and mechanical fore/aft adjustment functions. They also get lumbar support, a memory package, and heating and ventilation functions. 

The horizontal orientation of the interiors features all necessary operating controls placed to the left and right of the multifunction Sports steering wheel. The lightweight and functional steering wheel enables easy use of audio, telephone and navigation functions. It has manual fore/aft and height adjustment and has two alloy gearshift paddles in Dark Silver. The GT variants have the leather-wrapped GT sports steering wheel with a black decorative ring surrounding the Porsche Crest and Dark Silver shift paddles.

The instrument cluster has the analogue rev counter as the central element and two 7-inch displays on either side that provide all necessary information. Next to this is the 10.9-inch touchscreen display of Porsche Communication Management (PCM). It is the centre of audio, navigation, communication, and different assistance systems. The Porsche Connect is the onboard digital interface. It supports Apple CarPlay and a host of other infotainment and connectivity features. 

The Sound Package Plus, with eight speakers, offers excellent sound. A BOSE Surround Sound System with 12 speakers is also available. The standard Burmester High-End Surround Sound System with 13 speakers is also top-notch. Other comfort amenities include Comfort Access, two-zone automatic climate control, an optional ionisation function, and an electrically adjustable slide/tilt sunroof.

Porsche 911 Engine Capacity

The Porsche 911 has several petrol engines on offer, including a 2981 cc Twin Turbo 6 Cylinder engine. It offers a maximum power of 379.50bhp@6500rpm and a maximum torque of 4501950–5000Nm. 

The second engine is a 4.0 L 6-cylinder. It has a capacity of 3996 cc. It offers a maximum power of 379.50bhp@6500rpm and a maximum torque of 465Nm@6300rpm.

There is also a 6-cylinder boxer petrol engine on offer with a capacity of 2981 cc. It offers a maximum power of 641.00bhp@6500rpm and a maximum torque of 4501950–5000Nm.

Porsche 911 Transmission

The Porsche 911 comes with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The choices are a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed PDK, an 8-speed automatic, or a more advanced 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung gearbox. The improved 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) offers super-fast gear changes without interrupting the power flow. This double-clutch arrangement has two gearboxes in one.

Safety 

The Porsche 911 is also equipped with standard safety measures. There are four airbags placed around the cabin for occupant protection. Other standard features include ABS with EBD, Central Locking, Child Safety Locks, Anti-Theft Alarm, Day & Night Rear View Mirror, Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Engine Immobiliser, and Anti-Theft Device. It also gets a Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, Hill Descent Control, Hill Assist, Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock, 360 View Camera and a Blind View Monitor.  

The Porsche 911 also comes with a host of advanced assistance systems to offer a safe ride in diverse road and weather conditions. The 911 has a unique sensor-based 'WET' mode that aids drivers when driving in wet road conditions. The standard Collision and Brake Assist minimises the risk of collisions with cars and cyclists within the system's limits.

The Lane Keeping Assist is a camera-based feature that offers steering assistance and helps keep the car in the right lane. Using radar-based technology, Lane Change Assist monitors blind spots and the area behind the 911. Every time a car comes from behind or enters one of your blind zones, the system provides a visual warning signal in the outside mirrors as you shift lanes.

The Night Vision Assist uses an infrared camera to offer the driver information when driving at night, even beyond the range of the headlights. The standard ParkAssist offers audible alerts if there is an obstruction in the front or back of the car. The reversing camera assists in reverse parking and manoeuvring. This is supplemented by the ParkAssist with Surround View system, which has three high-resolution cameras in the front apron and exterior mirror lower trims. This feature generates a virtual bird' s-eye view of the car.
