A Driving Licence (DL) is one of the essential documents for riding/driving a vehicle. It can also act as a proof of address. In some cases, you might be required to change your residential address on a Driving Licence. For example, if you move to a new city, locality, or state, it can be crucial to change the address on your DL. There are both online and offline methods to do so. Follow these steps to update your Driver’s Licence address online.
Step 1: Visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
Step 2: Click on the “Online Services” and select “Driving Licence Related Services”.
Step 3: Choose your state from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Select “Application for Services on Driving Licence”.
Step 5: Enter your “DL number” and “Date of Birth”.
Step 6: Choose the service to change the DL address online.
Step 7: Enter the new address you want to update your DL with.
Step 8. Fill in the Captcha code visible on your screen and submit.
Step 9: Upload all the necessary documents, and select a payment method to pay the required fees.
Step 10: Take a printout of the application acknowledgement and payment receipt for your record.
Once your application gets approved, you can print your updated DL from the same website. For that, you will need to follow these steps.
Step 1: Visit the Parivahan portal.
Step 2: Click on “Print Driving Licence”.
Step 3: Fill in the application number and date of birth, and click on “Submit”.
Step 4: This should allow you to get a printout of your new Driving Licence updated with the current address.
Below are the offline steps you can follow for DL change of address offline.
Step 1: Visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) from where you obtained your Driving Licence.
Step 2: Obtain a Clearance Certificate and No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Step 3: Write an application addressing why you need to update Driving Licence address.
Step 4: Submit the application form, NOC, and other required documents.
Step 5: Pay the standard fees to initiate the process.
Upon completing the process, you will be asked to share your photographs and biometric information via iris scanning and fingerprint scanning. Once done, you will receive the acknowledgement receipt for future reference.

To complete the DL address change process successfully, you will need the following documents.
Your current valid DL’s copy
Address proof (such as Aadhaar card/Voter ID/Passport, etc.)
Duly filled out Form 7 to obtain a smart card
Duly filled out address change form (Form 33)
PAN card’s attested copy or Form 60 and 61 (as required)
Clearance Certificate or No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the DL issuer RTO
