The flagship Ola scooter receives a bunch of key updates.
Ola has updated its popular S1 Pro electric scooter. Recently it unveiled the new Gen 2 platform with the Ola S1 Air. The 2023 Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs. 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). The big news is the updated motor. The new S1 Pro is powered by a more powerful motor with a peak power output of 11 kW as opposed to the 8.5 kW on the older scooter. Understandably the performance has also improved as 0-60 kmph acceleration time is now 4.3 sec overshadowing the 4.5 sec of its predecessor. The new S1 Pro is marginally faster too with a claimed top speed of 120 kmph.
While the battery capacity remains the same at 4 kWh, Ola engineers have been able to optimise its performance as the claimed range for the new electric scooter is 180 km (170 km on the older scooter). Because of the new frame, there are lots of updates on the underpinnings. The Ola S1 Pro now rides on telescopic fork as seen on the S1 Air, whether it’s for cost optimisation or because the trailing link suspension had issues is still unclear. The rear suspension continues to be a monoshock unit, but the new S1 Pro gets a double-sided swingarm.
Visually there’s hardly any difference but because of the new frame, the footboard is now flatter, thereby offering more space. The cubby holes have been redesigned with deeper pockets and there’s a USB charger next to it. The Ola S1 Pro remains a feature-loaded scooter with a large TFT touchscreen and gets 4 ride modes - Eco, Normal, Sport and Hyper. With the new updates, Ola has raised the bar for its competitors as it remains the quickest, fastest and to offer the highest range for an electric scooter on sale in India. Its only rival is the Ather 450X.
