Since its debut in 1932, the Royal Enfield Bullet has been the oldest motorcycle brand still in production.
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 might be the most popular model for the iconic Indian brand in terms of sales, but one particular motorcycle scores high on nostalgia, and that’s the Bullet. It’s no secret that Royal Enfield has been working on the new Bullet 350, as test mules have been spotted over the past few years. And it seems the brand is finally ready, as it has sent out a teaser for the launch of an ‘old’ motorcycle, signifying it’s the 2023 Bullet 350. The new bike will make its debut on August 30 or June 1 at its R&D and manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu.
The new Royal Enfield Bullet 350 will be the fourth model under the J-platform after the Meteor 350, Classic 350, and Hunter 350. In terms of styling, the upcoming bike will retain the iconic styling of the current bike, but there will be subtle differences with respect to form, something that we already have with the new Classic 350. In the teaser image, we can see the celebrated Royal Enfield badge on the fuel tank. One can also expect the 2023 Bullet 350 to get a bunch of new features such as the Tripper navigation, USB port, and rotary switchgear.
On the mechanical front, the new Royal Enfield will feature the same 349 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as seen on the Classic 350. The power plant produces 20.2 bhp and a torque of 27 Nm, the UCE motor on the current Bullet 350 develops 19.1 bhp and a torque of 28 Nm. The other big change will be the inclusion of a new frame which should improve its riding dynamics. Braking hardware will be updated as the new Bullet 350 will get a dual-channel ABS variant.
It will be interesting to see whether Royal Enfield discontinues the current Bullet 350 or it will be on sale parallelly as it recently got upgraded to the new BS6.2 emission norms. The highlight of the existing Bullet 350 is that it’s the only Royal Enfield bike on sale in India with the UCE (unit cast engine) motor. The 2023 Bullet 350 will be positioned between the Hunter 350 and the Classic 350, so we expect it to be priced between Rs 1.60 and Rs 1.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
