The new Gurkha will come in three- and five-door versions and are expected to be priced at ₹15.5 - 16 lakh.
Force Motors is all set to launch the new Gurkha in India on May 2, 2024, according to sources. The rugged off-roader will be offered in three- and five-door variants but Force Motors is yet to completely reveal the SUV.
The three-door Force Gurka is expected to be priced around ₹15.5 lakh, while the five-door Gurkha is expected to be priced around ₹16 lakh (both, ex-showroom, India). Sources also tell us the two versions of the Gurkha will come in a single, fully loaded variant. For reference, the outgoing three-door Force Gurkha is priced at ₹15.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
Force Motors has already teased the exterior and the interior of the Gurkha. It retains the circular LED headlamps with the LED DRLs in the circumference. It also gets the same grille with big ‘Gurkha’ lettering but will get a different design for the alloy wheels. It will also get a snorkel on the right side, to help improve its off-roading credentials, flared wheel arches, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a roof rack and indicators mounted on the edges of the bonnet.
Inside, the Gurkha will get the same dashboard but different elements such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a rotary drive selector and knobs for the HVAC controls. The five-door Gurkha will get a seven-seat layout with a bench for the second row and captain’s chairs for the third row.
Under the hood, the Gurkha is expected to retain the same 2.6-litre diesel engine but will produce more power than before. The outgoing model produces 90 bhp and 250 Nm. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Once launched, the Force Gurkha will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar (₹11.25 - 17.60 lakh) and its upcoming five-door version. Based on its off-road ability, the Gurkha five-door will also compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny (₹12.74 - 14.79 lakh).
