The new 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec has grown and become more frugal than before.
The new Hero Destini 125 Xtec has undergone quite a transformation. Right from its chassis to its body styling, the scooter has been completely altered – all of which are aimed at making it more practical than before. However, have those changes helped its case to surpass one of the ultimate practical scooters in the 125 cc segment – the TVS Jupiter 125? We find that out in the spec comparison below:
Specification | 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec | TVS Jupiter 125 |
Engine | 124.6 cc | 124.8 cc |
Power | 9 bhp | 8 bhp |
Torque | 10.4 Nm | 10.5 Nm |
Mechanically, the Hero Destini 125 Xtec has remained the same as a result it continues to enjoy the power advantage over the TVS Jupiter 125. The torque output of both scooters is also on par with each other. However, Hero MotoCorp claims that it has optimised the CVT gearbox to make the 2024 Destini 125 Xtec more fuel-efficient than before, and with a claimed mileage of 59 kmpl, it has one of the best mileage figures in the segment.
Specification | 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec | TVS Jupiter 125 |
Front Suspension | Telescopic Fork | Telescopic Fork |
Rear Suspension | Single Coil Spring Hydraulic Type | Monotube Inverted Gas filled shox (MIG) with Spring aid 3 step adjustable |
Front Brake | Disc/ Drum | Disc/ Drum |
Rear Brake | Drum | Drum |
Both the Hero Destini 125 Xtec and TVS Jupiter 125 have similar underpinnings, and both have the same telescopic fork at the front. However, in the Jupiter 125, TVS has employed a gas-filled shock absorber with a 3-step preload adjustability option. Something that is missing with the Destini 125 Xtec, thus giving the TVS Jupiter 125 a slight advantage here with regards to better ride comfort, as per one’s requirement. On the braking front, both are available with the same drum/ disc brake options.
Specification | 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec | TVS Jupiter 125 |
Overall Length | 1862 mm | 1852 mm |
Overall Width | 703 mm | 691 mm |
Overall Height | 1125 mm | 1168 mm |
Seat Height | 770 mm | 765 mm |
Ground Clearance | 162 mm | 163 mm |
Wheelbase | 1302 mm | 1275 mm |
Kerb Weight | 115 kg | 109 kg |
Underseat Storage Space | NA | 33-litres |
Fuel Tank Capacity | 5.3-litres | 5.1-litres |
The new 2024 Hero Destini 125 Xtec is now built on an optimised platform that also underpins the Hero Xoom 110. As a consequence, the scooter has grown in size, but when compared to the TVS it’s just longer. The wheelbase has also grown in size; as a result, the Destini 125 Xtec gets a bigger seat, and Hero claims it’s the biggest in the segment. However, all that extra dimension has eaten into its weight, making the Hero scooter 7 kg heavier than the TVS Jupiter 125. Interestingly, both scooters have similar ground clearance.
However, when it comes to under-seat storage space, it's the TVS Jupiter 125 is the most spacious option here. It can easily accommodate two half-face helmets with ease. Whereas, in the Destini 125 Xtec, the under-seat storage space is not that accommodating. While we don’t have an exact storage space available, check out our video below and find out the reason behind the limitation.
But where the TVS Jupiter 125 surpasses the Hero Destini 125 Xtec is with the positioning of its external fuel filler cap. In the former, the fuel-filler cap is positioned below the handlebar on the front apron. This placement is mainly because the fuel tank is located inside the footboard. The Hero Destini 125 Xtec also has an external fuel filler cap, which is located at the back above the tail light.
The Hero Destini 125 Xtec has made significant strides on this front. For starters, the mid and top-spec ZX and ZX+ variants are now available with a brand-new LCD instrument cluster with a negative display. This unit supports smartphone connectivity, for call/SMS, notification alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation as well. Additionally, Hero MotoCorp has also upped the ante of the Destini 125 Xtec in terms of safety, wherein, the scooter comes with engine cut-off feature, which cuts the engine in case of a crash or fall.
The TVS Jupiter 125 is also available with a fully digital instrument that supports smartphone connectivity for call/SMS alerts, notification alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. Furthermore, TVS also takes it up a notch with voice assist functionalities. Beyond that, LED headlights and tail light, and bulb indicators – but Hero takes it up a notch here by employing auto-indicator turn-off.
The Hero Destini 125 Xtec looks modern and quite upmarket when compared to the TVS Jupiter 125. The latter feels a bit dated in appeal, and while that doesn’t come at the cost of compromised practicality, the Hero Destini 125 Xtec does try its best to live up to the TVS’ reputation.
However, the TVS Jupiter 125 starts from ₹79,299 with the base Drum-Alloy variant and goes up to ₹90,480 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) with the top-spec SmartXonnect variant which gets all the bells and whistles. Now all that remains to be seen is how Hero MotoCorp prices the Destini 125 Xtec.
