The 2025 update had already begun arriving at dealerships a while back

It seems Bajaj has done justice with the Pulsar brand as it has given the largest Pulsar yet – the NS400Z – some much needed updates for 2025. At the start of the month, the updated model had begun reaching dealerships, with minor but impactful updates made known then. However, there has been a lot more done to make the Pulsar a lot more appealing.

The major update is the retuning of the engine. No longer does it make the same 39.45 bhp as the Dominar 400. The power is bumped up to 42.41 bhp, 3 more horses than before. This should make it as close in performance as the older 390 Duke with the same 373 cc mill. It remains to be seen whether there has been an impact on the torque or weight as that would tweak the bike’s performance capabilities as well.

Not only has the power gone up but Bajaj is also throwing a bi-directional quickshifter into the mix. This is the same mechanical unit that was first used on the KTMs and hence adopting it to the Pulsar will not be that much of a task. What will remain to be seen is just how smooth the experience will be. We didn’t have as great of an experience with it on the 373 cc mill and only on the 399 cc engine did the quickshifter work well. Hence, will it still be notchy on the Pulsar remains to be seen.

The final set of changes that we came to know earlier also benefit the bike’s performance credentials. Chunkier radial tyres from Apollo and sintered front brake pads will help in the handling and stopping department. We had been crying out for better tyres and we are glad that Bajaj obliged on that front.

We are yet to receive an official communication from Bajaj on the same. However, the asking price seems to have gone up by around ₹11,000, which should now stand at ₹1,92,328 (ex-showroom, Delhi). With all of the above changes known, the asking price sounds like a killer deal, even more so than what it was earlier. And considering the fact that Bajaj is able to provide a 400 cc performance naked at that price point rivalling the Yamaha R15 V4 and the Hero Xtreme 250R, or even the KTM 250 Duke, it is a lot of motorcycle for your money.
