The quarter-litre sports bike has just been aesthetically updated.
Honda has launched the 2025 iteration of the CBR250RR in Japan. While the bike has remained mechanically the same, it now looks slightly different and fresh, courtesy of new colour options. This includes a striking three-tone white, red and blue paint scheme, alongside an alternative black version with blue and grey accents. Beyond these cosmetic changes, the motorcycle maintains all its existing features and specifications from before.
The body panels have not been tweaked or changed at all. As a result, that sharp, sporty appeal remains unchanged. There's a hint of aggression in the fairing design as well, especially around the headlight cluster, which houses the LED DRLs and headlight. The rider's triangle continues to be quite sporty, too, with rear-set footpegs and clip-on handlebars. The suspension setup consists of a 37 mm Showa SF front fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by single discs at both ends with dual-channel ABS, and it rides on 17-inch cast alloy wheels.

Underneath that expressive fairing design is the same 249 cc twin-cylinder power plant producing 41 bhp at 13,000 rpm and 25 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox, which is further enhanced by a bi-directional quickshifter and slip-and-assist clutch.
Honda used to sell the CBR250R in India but discontinued it in 2020. When it was first introduced, it was the only proper 250 cc sports bike available in the country. However, as competitors began offering similar performance at more affordable price points, and with Honda keeping the same design for nearly a decade, the CBR250R gradually lost its charm and appeal. The motorcycle market in India has since matured, with more buyers willing to invest in premium motorcycles. Honda also took advantage of this change in scenario by expanding its high-end offerings in the country, launching the likes of the NX500, CBR650R and CB650R last year.

With Hero MotoCorp recently entering the 250 cc segment via the Xtreme 250R and the upcoming Karizma XMR250, the time might be right for Honda to reintroduce the CBR250RR to the Indian market. But sadly the brand has some other plans, and the CBR250RR is still not being considered for India, at least for 2025-26. Should the more aggressive Honda CBR250RR launch in India? Yes!. But only Honda knows why it hasn’t yet.
