Tata Launches Aeris Sedan At ₹5.29 Lakh

The split from fleet sales marks a departure for a segment where, according to Tata, personal buyers already account for roughly 65 per cent of demand. Shailesh Chandra, managing director and chief executive of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the sedan remains "one of the most timeless expressions of the car," with buyers who value its comfort, space and practicality, and that Aeris had been "conceived exclusively for individual ownership."

The launch comes as Tata tries to arrest a decline in its sedan standing. According to JATO Dynamics, entry-level sedan sales rose 18.9 per cent to 322,375 units in 2025, but the Tigor's share of that segment nearly halved to about 3 per cent, from 6.4 per cent the previous year. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire held nearly two-thirds of the segment, with the Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze making up most of the rest.

Mechanically, the Aeris carries over the Tigor's underpinnings. It is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine with five-speed manual or AMT transmission options, alongside a twin-cylinder iCNG variant offered only with AMT. Tata said the twin-cylinder layout allows for more efficient packaging than a conventional single-tank CNG setup.

Six airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill-hold control and ISOFIX child-seat anchors are standard across the range, with electronic stability control added from the Pure+ trim. The cabin gets a 26.03cm touchscreen, a 12.7cm digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a dashcam Tata describes as a segment first. The car also gets a driver-side blind-spot monitor, though rivals such as the Amaze already offer a similar side camera.

The Aeris arrives in a compact-sedan segment that has grown even as the broader mid-size sedan category has shrunk, aided by CNG penetration that Chandra put at close to 60 per cent of segment volumes. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-October. Tata has not said how long the introductory prices will remain in effect.
