Bears similar underpinnings as the upcoming 390 Adventure but will be of the budget-friendly variety
KTM working on the next-gen 390 Adventure is no secret and while there were murmurs of a smaller 250 in the works, nothing had yet been seen or spotted. Until now, as the first sightings of the new 250 Adventure have taken place on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. This is the usual testing ground for most bikes made in Chakan, where most such sightings happen.

In terms of presence, the spotted 250 Adventure looks more or less the same as the upcoming 390 Adventure. It has the enduro look spot on with the tall windshield, high rise beak, larger tank section and a sleek yet long tail.
There are some small differences, though. KTM is continuing the tradition of shortchanging the 250 series as the test mule was seen without LED DRLs. This was also done on the new-gen Dukes, where the lack of the DRLs actually made it look better. But the next bit is the more disappointing bit: no colour TFT screen. Yep, KTM is going to employ the same LCD dash as the new 250 Duke and Vitpilen 250 on the 250 Adventure as well. This is surprising that the fancier TFT screen wasn’t used as it can now also be found on the more affordable 200 Duke!
The new trellis frame will house the revised 248 cc SOHC mill that is making over 30 horses and 25 Nm. The gearing is likely to be altered to suit adventure touring and perhaps even the throttle response. It would come equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter and switchable ABS but no traction control.
Finally, the suspension components on the 250 Adventure remain non-adjustable. We should have no problem with the lack of adjustability as long as the tune remains fit for the course. The previous 250 Adventure ended up being firmer than the 390 Adventure, something that would cause further discomfort on long tours. The test mule was seen running on 19-/17-inch dual-purpose tyres, likely to be MRF-sourced.
As much as we are keen to find out all of the details about the upcoming 390 Adventure at EICMA 2024, we know the bike is not likely to be everyone’s cuppa tea. It is going to be rather serious and fast while introducing a bit of forgiveness and compliance that the current bike lacks. Hence, the 250 Adventure could just be the logical choice for someone looking for their first proper ADV tourer. We could see the bike make its debut in early-2025, shortly after the launch of the 390 Adventure. Prices are expected to go up marginally as the current 250 Adventure bears a sticker price of ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom India).
