The 2025 Speed Triple 1200 RS is now also the most powerful production bike in Triumph's portfolio, even edging past the Triumph Rocket 3R by a margin.
Triumph has updated its most potent naked sport offering, the Speed Triple 1200 RS, for 2025, making it more powerful and feature-rich. While the bike hasn't changed much in appearance, there are three new colour options — Granite with red trimmings or yellow graphics, and a Jet Black option with red decals — that help it to stay afresh. The new Triumph Street Triple 1200 RS has been launched in the UK and USA, where it is scheduled to reach dealerships from April 2025 onwards. It will launch in India by mid 2025, and the bike has already been listed on Triumph India's website.
As for the updates, the biggest one has to be its engine. While the 1160 cc, liquid-cooled, inline-three engine remains the same. Triumph has tweaked the mill to produce 3 bhp more, and at 180.5 bhp, the new Street Triple 1200 RS edges past the Rocket 3R by just 0.5 bhp to become the most powerful production bike to come out of Hinckley. Peak torque output has also increased from 125 Nm to 128 Nm, and it now arrives 250 rpm earlier at 8,750 rpm. Triumph has also included a new exhaust system, and the crankshaft balance has been revised to make the engine more refined. An optional Akrapovic silencer is also available, but Triumph has yet to state whether that will enhance performance.
Another notable upgrade is the introduction of Ohlins' latest third-gen SmartEC3 electronic suspension. It comes with Ohlins' 'Objective Based Tuning Interface' (OBTI) system that monitors the front 43 mm USD fork and rear monoshock suspensions to constantly alter the compression and rebound damping as per the road conditions. One can tweak the degree of intervention of the system and there are seven levels of adjustability options available here. Similarly, braking duties are also taken care of top-shelf components with Brembo Stylema calipers and MCS radial master cylinder.
Triumph has not changed the bike's frame, unlike the new hardware components. However, the rider's ergonomics have been tweaked slightly, wherein the bars have been raised, and they are wider in profile. That should make the ride slightly more comfortable than before. But on the other hand, due to the new semi-electronic suspension system, the kerb weight of the Street Triple 1200 RS has increased. So, with the 15.5-litre fuel tank filled to the brim, the new Triumph Street Triple 1200 RS tips the scale at 199 kg, making it one kilo heavier than before.
Rider assist features were always abundant with the Street Triple 1200 RS, but the latest version gets a wider safety net. A key notable introduction is the Front Wheel Lift Control system, which monitors not just whether the wheel is off the ground but also how high it has risen. This new feature works in tandem with Engine Brake Control and Brake Slide Assist. The last option can only be accessed in Track mode.
The controls for all the electronic nannies can be accessed via the same 5-inch TFT display. This unit supports smartphone connectivity, which will allow for turn-by-turn navigation, music playback, and call/SMS alerts. Just like before, cornering ABS, traction control, fully adjustable cruise control, and different ride modes, etc., will continue.
Given the nature of updates that the Triumph Street Triple 1200 RS benefits from now, the bike will command quite the premium price tag. Its competitors include the likes of the Aprilia Tuono V4, BMW S 1000 R, and the Ducati Streetfighter V4. All three of these bikes are priced north of ₹20 lakh, so we expect Triumph to pitch the new Street Triple 1200 RS in the same price range.
