The new BMW M 1000 R is expected to be priced northwards of ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom).
BMW Motorrad has dropped a bomb, teasing the launch of its next big bike in India. The short teaser shows a shadowy glimpse of the bike without mentioning any details but judding by appearances, we expect it to be the M 1000 R. The two-wheeler arm of the German marque has confirmed that this motorcycle will launch in India on 16 March 2026.
The latest iteration of the flagship naked streetfighter made its global debut last year. Its predecessor has since been discontinued, and BMW has quietly updated its India website to feature the new M 1000 R. Prospective buyers can register their interest online, while bookings and pricing are expected to be announced on the launch day.
Like its predecessor, the upcoming BMW M 1000 R is expected to arrive as a fully imported CBU model. The outgoing version was last priced at ₹33 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is likely to be priced at around ₹35 lakh.
Visually, the latest iteration of the M 1000 R looks very different from the previous model largely due to the new twin-headlight setup with integrated LED DRLs derived from the RR models that gives the bike a very aggressive look. It also received new M Carbon winglets which are partially visible in the teaser. As expected, the focus is on better aerodynamics by creating more downforce for better high-speed stability.

The M 1000 R has a much lower and aggressive stance than the S 1000 R with a flat, straightline handlebar and rear set foot pegs. The naked streetfighter will most likely be offered with a single seat although BMW could offer a pillion seat as an accessory. Expect the M 1000 R to adorn M specific highlights such as milled levers, a sculpted fuel tank with deep knee recesses, and an embroidered M logo on the seat. An underbelly exhaust and an exposed frame are the two notable visual details that lend the M 1000 R its street naked credentials.
The BMW M 1000 R is built around a bridge-type cast-aluminium frame. Its suspension setup includes a 45 mm electronically adjustable inverted telescopic fork at the front, offering 119mm of travel, and a twin-sided aluminium swingarm at the rear with an adjustable central shock that provides 117 mm of travel. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch seven-spoke forged aluminium wheels. Braking duties are handled by twin 300 mm discs at the front, paired with four-piston fixed calipers, while the rear uses a 220 mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper.

Powering the M 1000 R is a 999 cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine, managed by an electronic intake pipe injection system with a digital management system and BMS-O throttle bodies, featuring ride-by-wire technology. Mated to a constant-mesh six-speed transmission, this engine can burst out 201 bhp at 13,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 11,110 rpm. As for performance, it can clock a top speed of 280 kmph.
