Ducati has revealed the next-generation DesertX featuring a new V2 engine, updated chassis, refined ergonomics, and better electronics.

Italian bike manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the second-generation DesertX. Presented as part of the Ducati World Premiere 2026 showcase, the updated DesertX has been comprehensively re-engineered around an all-new V2 engine. The redesign focuses on improving off-road capability while retaining everyday usability and on-road comfort.

Drawing on extensive experience from global endurance events and extreme terrain competitions such as the Erzbergrodeo, Transanatolia Rally and Norra Mexican 1000, the new model has been developed to deliver better performance than before.

At the core of the motorcycle is Ducati’s new 890cc V2 twin-cylinder engine. Delivering 109 bhp and 92 Nm of torque, the engine features variable intake valve timing to ensure strong power delivery throughout the rev range. A revised gear ratio setup includes shorter lower gears for technical off-road riding and a longer top gear for highway efficiency.

The updated model introduces a dedicated monocoque frame that uses the engine as a structural component, improving rigidity while reducing weight. Suspension has also been upgraded with progressive rear linkages and a fully adjustable KYB front fork to improve terrain absorption and adaptability.

Off-road ergonomics have been refined through repositioned handlebars, seat and footpegs, creating a more balanced riding stance for both seated touring and standing off-road use. A slimmer 18-litre fuel tank lowers the centre of gravity and improves manoeuvrability.

The DesertX also benefits from an advanced electronics package built around a six-axis inertial platform. Features include multi-level Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake management and six selectable riding modes including dedicated Enduro and Rally settings.

Ducati has confirmed that the new DesertX is scheduled to launch in India in the fourth quarter of 2026.
