The updated Maybach S-Class goes on sale in Europe first with an India-debut expected sometime later this year.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated Maybach S-Class. The global debut of this flagship luxury sedan follows closely after the facelifted S-Class broke cover a couple of weeks ago, on which the former is based. As expected, the new Maybach S-Class receives the same visual and feature updates as the regular S-Class along with a very critical mechanical update.
The updated Maybach S-Class brings a set of restrained design tweaks rather than a full visual overhaul. Up front, the grille has grown by about 20 percent and now comes with an illuminated surround. It retains the brand’s signature vertical slats, with a softly lit ‘Maybach’ script placed above them. Illumination has been extended elsewhere too, including the Maybach badging, the C-pillar emblem, and the bonnet-mounted Mercedes-Benz star, depending on the market.

The headlamps have been reworked with a tri-star LED light signature and subtle rose-gold accents, while the taillamps echo the same three-pointed star theme. There are also new forged alloy wheel options on offer, some featuring self-levelling centre caps that keep the Mercedes-Benz logo upright even when the car is in motion. On the customization front, the expanded Manufaktur programme introduces additional paint finishes, including a Nautical Blue metallic shade available with the Night Series package.
The cabin offers a signature Maybach experience that continues to prioritise rear-seat comfort. The German marque claims to have improved the quality of leather upholstery on the seats and other cabin materials. The dashboard features Maybach-specific graphics with rose-gold accents. The biggest update, however, is the new MBUX Superscreen that integrates central and passenger infotainment displays under a single glass panel.

In the updated model, the MBUX now runs on the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) that offers a more advanced digital experience with AI-based functionalities. The new virtual assistant is designed to feel more conversational, with smoother voice interactions and access to a wider set of integrated services. At the rear, passengers are treated to twin 13.1-inch screens, paired with executive seating, a refrigerated compartment, and a few signature indulgences like silver-plated champagne flutes.

Seat comfort has been taken a notch higher as well. The backrests now recline up to 43 degrees, compared to 38 degrees in the standard S-Class, and come with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Another notable change is the switch from the earlier tablet controller to two individual smartphone-style remotes, which handle most in-cabin functions. Parking assistance hasn’t been left untouched either. The system now supports angled parking and offers a clearer, more refined 360-degree view, making tight manoeuvres a bit less stressful.
The 2026 iteration of the Maybach S-Class continues to be offered in two variants — S 580 and S 680. The former comes with an updated 4.0-litre V8 turbo petrol engine which now uses a flat-plane crank and pushes out 530 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque. On the other S 680 is offered in either V12 or a more powerful V8 depending on the market.

Markets such as the US and UAE are expected to continue with the V12 engine — a 6.0-litre twin-turbo unit producing 620 bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque. In contrast, most other markets, including India, will likely get a detuned version of the V8 from the Mercedes-Benz S 580, delivering 602 bhp and 850 Nm of torque.
In select markets, Mercedes will also offer the S 580e which is a plug-in hybrid variant of the Maybach S-Class featuring a 3.0-litre inline-six engine with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery. The combined system output stands at 576 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque. This version of the limousine can run up to 98 km on full electric power.
