Skoda Auto India is all set to launch the second generation of the Kodiaq, almost 1.5 years after it made its global debut. The Kodiaq is Skoda’s flagship product globally and it remains the brand shaper in India too. The second-gen Kodiaq made its India debut at the 2025 Auto Expo and is expected to launch in India by April.
In an interview with Acko Drive, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, “Production [of the Kodiaq] is starting with petrol four-wheel drive (4WD) automatic at the end of February and first cars could be delivered to the customers towards the end of April.” When asked whether the Kodiaq will be a completely built unit (CBU) import or assembled in India, Janeba responded the Kodiaq will be built at the brand’s plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra.
Janeba also said that Skoda will first bring the petrol-automatic 4WD versions but that’s not the only versions being considered for India. In addition to confirming that Skoda is considering a diesel powertrain for India, Janeba said, “There are three specs currently considered and two of them are seven-seaters and there is even one five-seater coming.”
The Kodiaq is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 201 bhp and 320 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends power to all four wheels. If things work out, Skoda could also bring the 2.0-litre diesel engine with Kodiaq later on. This engine is available in two states of tune – 148 bhp with 360 Nm and 190 bhp with 400 Nm. Both are available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels.
