The limited edition was originally capped at 300 units, but Mahindra increased this to 999 units citing enormous demand.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s limited-run BE 6 Batman Edition created a record on Thursday when all 999 units were booked within 135 seconds of opening. The SUV, unveiled on August 14, 2025, on the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, marks Mahindra’s first collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP).
The company had originally planned to release 300 units as a collector’s edition. However, following high demand during previews, Mahindra increased the allocation to 999 units. Despite the expansion, the vehicle sold out in just over two minutes.
Positioned under the automaker’s Born Electric (BE) lineup, the BE 6 Batman Edition is designed as a special edition SUV that integrates elements inspired by the DC superhero franchise. It also forms part of Mahindra’s broader strategy to highlight its EV design and technological capabilities under its “Unlimit India” vision.
This milestone adds to Mahindra’s growing presence in the electric vehicle segment. With the BE range, the company is targeting both domestic and global markets while aiming to strengthen its brand identity through high-profile collaborations.
The swift sellout reflects increasing consumer appetite for premium and limited-run EVs in India, especially as automobile manufacturers look to differentiate offerings in a competitive market.
Industry experts note that such special edition launches are becoming a strategic tool for automakers to generate excitement around EV adoption, while also strengthening consumer connect with global entertainment franchises.
Mahindra has not announced whether more Batman-inspired editions will be offered in the future. For now, the 999 buyers of the BE 6 Batman Edition own what the company describes as a “world-first cinematic collaboration in electric mobility.”
