With 10 advanced manufacturing plants, Ashok Leyland today ranks as India’s largest bus maker, and the country’s second-largest commercial vehicle company.
Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland was honoured as a Hall of Fame Manufacturing Pioneer at the fourth annual ACKO Drive Awards, held in Chennai, on the 19th and 20th December. Shenu Agarwal, MD, Ashok Leyland, accepted the special recognition on behalf of the company.
Ashok Leyland has had a commendable journey over the past 77 years, and counting.
With 10 advanced manufacturing plants, Ashok Leyland today ranks as India’s largest bus maker, and the country’s second-largest commercial vehicle company, targeting to be among the top 10 commercial vehicle manufacturers globally.
A pioneer of India’s first multi-axle trucks, first rear-engine bus, first fully indigenous CV platform, the company now leads with CNG, LNG, hydrogen-ready engines, and electric buses and trucks. Its efforts in manufacturing and engineering exemplify its self-sustainable approach, and also contribute to an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Backed by a workforce of over 5,700 people along with decades of engineering leadership, Ashok Leyland continues to strengthen India’s logistics backbone.
The OEM earned this special recognition for its manufacturing excellence, technological leadership, and role in building the Indian automotive industry.
