ACKO Drive Awards 2026: BMW Rides Away in Style With the 2026 Luxury EV TOTM Win

BMW’s first EV to be assembled in India, the 2025 iX1 LWB is not only relatively affordable, but also offers buyers a bigger cabin at a lower price than its predecessor. Extending the usable space means this SUV is easier to get in and out of, and it feels much more comfortable when you’re in the back seats. An extra-large glass roof and light interior theme make the cabin feel even roomier. 

The claimed range of 531km is good for this segment, and we had no complaints about drive comfort and dynamics in our full review. There’s L1 ADAS, eight airbags, a curved dashboard with BMW’s 9th gen software for infotainment, and plenty of little conveniences. The company says the rear seats have been redesigned specifically for India. 

In terms of exterior design, not much is different about the iX1 LWB compared to the iX1 and X1, however the iX1 LWB wins our 2026 Luxury EV TOTM for its combination of performance, value, safety features, comfort, and tech. 

It beat some serious competition — the other nominees that nearly made it were the BYD Sealion 7, Mercedes-Benz G580, MG Cyberster, MG M9, Porsche Macan Electric, Tesla Model Y, and Volvo EX30. It also managed to win two other big TOTMs - 2026 ACKO Drive Premium Car of the Year, and 2026 Luxury Compact SUV.
