BMW Group India has commenced 2025 with its strongest-ever quarterly performance, recording a 7 per cent year-on-year growth in car deliveries during the January–March period. The company delivered a total of 3,914 cars, comprising both BMW and MINI brands, alongside 1,373 motorcycles under BMW Motorrad. MINI delivered 150 cars in Q1 2025 as the MINI Cooper S was the top performer in the lineup, with sales more than doubling from the same period last year. BMW Motorrad's sales were driven by strong demand in both the entry-level and premium segments. The G 310 RR led sales, while the 900 GS / GSA models were the most popular among completely built units (CBUs).
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “BMW Group India clocked the highest-ever Q1 car deliveries till date with 3,914 units, also growing by +7%. Continuing our lead as the most preferred luxury EV brand, we have seen phenomenal growth of over 200% in our electric car sales. Similarly, BMW long-wheelbase models have captured the imagination of luxury connoisseurs across the board, growing by a remarkable +187%.”
BMW Group India continues to maintain its leadership in the luxury EV segment for the third consecutive year. In Q1 2025, the company delivered 646 electric vehicles (BMW and MINI combined), marking a 206 per cent year-on-year increase. The recently launched BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo, played a critical role in this growth. The model has garnered over 1,500 bookings and emerged as the best-selling BMW EV for the quarter.
Long wheelbase models, including the BMW 7 Series, 5 Series, 3 Series, and the iX1, posted a combined growth of 187 per cent. These vehicles now contribute 30 per cent to BMW India’s total car sales, up from 20 per cent in 2021. The all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase was the highest-selling business sedan in Q1, while the BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase maintained its leadership in its segment.
The ultra-luxury segment saw continued demand, with one in every five BMW cars sold in Q1 falling into this category. The BMW 7 Series remained a segment leader in the limousine class, and the BMW X7 saw a sharp rise in demand among high-end SUVs.
SUVs contributed 55 per cent to total BMW car sales in Q1 2025, with 2,079 units sold. The BMW X1 accounted for over 30 per cent of these sales, becoming the highest-selling car in the Indian premium compact SUV segment. The SUV category grew by 11 per cent, aided by new launches such as the BMW X5 and the iX1 Long Wheelbase. The upcoming deliveries of the all-new BMW X3 are expected to further boost SUV sales in Q2.
