The all-electric MG Cyberster will grab attention anywhere you drive it.

MG is best known in India for its workhorse SUVs, but this year brought a major pivot with the new MG Select lineup and retail network. The Cyberster is one of the most exciting cars to be launched in India in a long time, especially if you’ve always wanted a convertible or a sportscar, but haven’t had the budget for one before. It wins this year’s Car Design TOTM even against stiff competition from Porsche, Volvo, Kia, MINI, Mahindra, and others.

The all-electric MG Cyberster will grab attention anywhere you drive it. With colours named Flare Red and Nuclear Yellow, you know it was meant to grab eyeballs – though if you prefer the more subtle Andes Grey and Modern Beige options, you’ll still get a bit of drama thanks to a dark red roof.

Performance and specifications aside, this car has an unmistakable presence with its low stance and classic roadster silhouette, electric scissor doors, arrow-shaped rear LED taillights and 20-inch light-alloy wheels with Brembo brakes. You can drop the top in 10 seconds. On the inside, you have a wraparound dashboard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel straddled by two additional 7-inch screens. The cockpit-style console is also designed to impress, with a digital gearshift and haptic AC controls.

Even so, the company says safety and handling have not been compromised at all. Unseen design elements include anti-rollover capability, combination head + side airbags, and more.
