In this week’s two-wheeler news, we had quite a few launches, which were coupled up with a few strategic decisions were taken by OEM majors to secure its futures. Here’ what created the the most noise and grabbed our attention from the industry:
After months of waiting, Royal Enfield finally launched the Classic 650 in India this week. The brand’s sixth 650 cc offering carries forward the much revered “Classic” badge in a bigger, bulkier, more powerful package. It shares a lot of its core components with the Shotgun 650, and yet this is the heaviest bike to come out of RE’s stable, tipping the scales at 243 kg. BMW took the path less travelled to debut an enduro bike with the new R 12 GS. It is based on the boxer-twin platform as the BMW R 12 nineT, so the engine and mainframe has been shared. But the biggest changes made to the bike are in the form of longer travel suspension, better brakes, new wheels, and features all of which should give you the confidence to hit the dune with full confidence. Ola Electric announced this week that it has “amicably settled” all pending dues with its registration vendors, including Rosmerta. The latter had filed two insolvency cases against the Bengaluru-based EV company citing non-payment of services rendered. However, Ola Electric had earlier announced that it will be shifting its vehicle registration process in-house, but had made the announcement without paying off Rosmerta. This week saw the Board of Directors at Bajaj Auto reappoint Rajiv Bajaj as it’s Managing Director for the next five years.
