Actor Shahid Kapoor Brings Home Mercedes-Benz G 450d Worth ₹2.9 crore

Actor Shahid Kapoor, fresh off the release of his latest flick O’Romeo, has brought home the Mercedes-Benz G 450d SUV. The ‘Farzi’ actor recently shared images of his new G-Wagen, after what appears to be a road trip to Goa. The G 450d was launched in India last October, priced at ₹2.9 crore (ex-showroom). What makes it even more special is that only 50 units were allocated for India, one of which now rests in Kapoor’s garage.

Mercedes-Benz G 450d: Performance

The Mercedes-Benz G 450d is the most sought-after version of the G-Wagen, only second to the G 63 AMG. The torque monster can be seen as the more practical iteration of the SUV, bringing fuel efficiency (marginally higher than the AMG) and dollops of torque with the brilliant off-road capability. Powering the G-Class is the 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged diesel engine that develops 362 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque. The new G 450d replaces the older G 400d in the lineup with power and torque figures witnessing a bump of up to 36 bhp and 50 Nm. The engine is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds a 20 bhp boost when required during low-end acceleration. Power goes to all four wheels via the 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The G 450d is no slouch with 0-100 kmph coming up in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 210 kmph. The off-road credentials remain one of the best with a ground clearance of 241 mm and water wading depth of 700 mm. The off-roader has an approach angle of 31 degrees, breakover angle of 26 degrees, and a departure angle of 30 degrees. Mercedes also says the G 450d will drive on a sideward slope of up to 35 degrees.

Mercedes-Benz G 450d: Styling

Visually, the Mercedes-Benz G 450d gets the iconic boxy silhouette. The grille gets triple-horizontal slats, which gives away its non-AMG nature, making for an understated appearance. It also rides on different 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, along with slightly redesigned front and rear bumpers. The cabin features a similar layout with the twin 12.3-inch screens for the digital console and infotainment system. It comes with the MBUX NTG7 software with augmented reality navigation, transparent bonnet function, customisable ambient lighting, a 760-watt Burmester sound system with 18 speakers and Dolby Atmos, and Level 2 ADAS. The G-Wagen takes on the Defender 110 Trophy Edition, which comes with a diesel engine and costs significantly less at ₹1.3 crore (ex-showroom).

Shahid Kapoor has been dabbling with several top-end Mercedes-Benz models over the last few years. The actor acquired the Mercedes-Maybach S580 in 2022, and followed it up with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Night Series last year. The G-Wagen is the next big Merc in the family garage. The star is a proper petrolhead and has owned a number of cars and motorcycles over the years, ranging from the BMW M2, Porsche Cayenne, to the Jaguar XKR-S, and Range Rover.
